SNOWMOBILE PATROL

                          Snowmobile Patrol

THE WOOD COUNTY SHERIFF DEPARTMENT HAS A SEPARATE PATROL THAT ASSIGNS FOUR DEPUTIES TO ENFORCE THE SNOWMOBILE STATUTES ON THE TRAILS WITHIN WOOD COUNTY.

THIS PATROL IS EQUIPPED WITH FOUR SNOWMOBILES, THAT AT VARIOUS TIMES PATROL THE TRAILS.  AT OTHER TIMES, SQUADS WILL BE MONITORING THE CROSSINGS AND ENFORCING THE STATUTES GOVERNING SNOWMOBILE USE.

THE SHERIFF DEPARTMENT USES THE DNR CITATIONS AND FINE AMOUNTS IF THE VIOLATOR IS CITED ON THE TRAIL AND IN VIOLATION OF WISCONSIN STATUTE.

IF A VIOLATOR IS FOUND TO BE IN VIOLATION OF A WISCONSIN STATUTE AND OPERATING ON ROADWAY, THAT SUBJECT WILL BE ISSUED A UNIFORM TRAFFIC CITATION AND FINED ACCORDINGLY WITH THE UNIFORM TRAFFIC BOND BOOK.

THE WOOD COUNTY SHERIFF DEPARTMENT ALSO HAS ORDINANCES THAT CONTROL THE USE OF FOUR WHEEL VEHICLES ON SNOWMOBILE TRAILS.  REVIEW THE  COUNTY STATUTES PERTAINING TO THAT AREA.

BELOW, CHECK THE LINKS FOR WOOD COUNTY SNOW TRAILS, WIS STATUTES PERTAINING TO SNOWMOBILE OPERATION, AND WOOD COUNTY SNOWMOBILE ORDINANCE.

*** DO NOT DRINK OR USE NARCOTICS/CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES AND OPERATE A SNOWMOBILE ON WOOD COUNTY TRAILS.  IF YOU ARE FOUND OPERATING AND INTOXICATED YOU WILL BE CITED.   IT IS A MANDATORY 12 HOUR HOLD IN WOOD COUNTY JAIL IF YOU ARE CHARGED WITH OPERATING WHILE INTOXICATED.***
